Welcome, Dave.
I'm really sorry about your tinnitus.
As with many old* folks my hearing has deteriorated to the point I'm insensate to real tones above about 10 kHz so the high-pitched "unreal" tone (what some call "ringing") characteristic of my tinnitus is readily apparent. Fortunately it's masked by any music I listen to and my hearing of tones in the range ca 30 Hz - 10 kHz is quite good---no need for EQ other than to compensate for my headphones' response function.
Sadly, my partner's tinnitus is bad enough that it interferes even with her listening to conversations unless folks are standing close to her and speaking clearly. I've finally convinced her we should explore the wonderful world of hearing aids.
Regards,
Kent
*There's the saying "we grow too soon old and too late smart". If only I'd taken better care of my ears in my teens and 20s. Sigh.
