There is no in-place update from 7.x.x to 8.x.x.
To update from 7.x.x to the latest version 8.x.x requires a complete new installation of the image from the website.
Later version of Moode do have a “backup/restore settings” facility, but I’m not sure how far back it goes - Tim or Kent should be able to help you out.
