@Blobby
I neglected to say I was running the 64-bit moOde 8.3.5 in the test I reported previously. The only time I run the 32-bit legacy version is when I'm testing on an older Pi such as the Pi Zero W which don't support the 64-bit instruction set.
It's really difficult to diagnose a situation like this where we can't repro the problem on our own devices.
One thought is for you to do the same as I did, reporting the following for when you are successfully streaming to moOde 7.6 and when you are unsuccessfully streaming to moOde 8.3.5.
1) what the Pixel says about its Bluetooth connection
To get this information you need to enable the Developer Options in Android. See, for example, How to enable ... for a user-friendly description of this process.
Then, while the Pixel is connected via Bluetooth to moOde and is streaming some audio out, go to Settings > System > Developer options and scroll well down to the Bluetooth audio info.
2) what moOde says about the ALSA feed to the DAC
To get this information I used sudo moodeutl --hwparams
Another thought...you're not also using a Allo Kali reclocker by any chance? ISTR there's a problem with 24-bit depth PCM and the Kali, but I'm not the guy to diagnose that. Try searching this forum.
Regards,
Kent
