From there you can also scan the network for shares detection.

Thanks Al.....but confusion still rife for me!
I've done "m" => Configure => Library, then pressing the button [create] Music source.
....and created 3 Music sources ....those being my drives that are local to the Pi.

All 3 can be seen in My PC.....but can't be written to.

Couple things.

1. The "Music Source" screen is only used when the files to be accessed are on another computer in your network.
2. For files on the Pi itself either on the uSD card or USB drives plugged into the Pi you simply do Menu, Update Library.
3. When you turn on the SMB server in System Config it enables files on the Pi to be accessible from another computer on your network.

If you want to keep the USB drives plugged into the Pi then:
- Remove the Music Sources
- Menu, Update library

If you want to keep the USB drives plugged into your PC then:
- On the Pi remove the existing Music Sources
- On your PC create "share" for the folder on each drive that contains your music files
- On the Pi create an SMB Music Source for each "share"

Usually the SCAN will find the shares but not always. In this case post back.
Enjoy the Music!
