@5-pot-fan
Let's cut through the chaff.
As I read your post, you have two moOde players. Supposedly, each player is publishing an SMB share to your LAN, where the share is a file system on a USB drive. Neither player is able to mount the SMB share of the other as a remote NAS.source.
The short answer is, since you're able to play tracks from the USB drives on their respective local players, this should be working just fine. As I type this I'm looking at exactly such an arrangement on my desk with "playerB" mounting the SMB share from "playerA" and v.v.
Let's look at the sharing from playerA to playerB:
On playerA, I've enabled SMB file sharing (on the System screen) with no password entered.
On playerB, I've defined a new Remote host (on the Remote NAS Source screen, reached from the Config/Music Library screen), selecting type SMB, scanning to find and select the path of the share I want, entering the Userid 'guest', not entering any Password, and giving it a name. Saved it.
Back to the Music Library screen on playerB. The source is shown with a green check mark to indicate it's been successfully mounted. (If shown with a red X, there's a problem. Click on it to go back to the Remote NAS Source screen and click again where indicated to get the mount error message you can report).
Now all I have to do is update playerB's library.
Done.
You'll have to start giving more details about the specific settings you chose if you want more help. To set the stage, a good first step would be to give us the startup system log for each step. First, reboot the system to get a clean log. The log can be viewed via the SSH command moodeutl -l or downloaded via the Logs section in System Config, or via Menu, System info from any of the Config screens. Cut and paste the result into a code block in your post.

Kent
