Sorry for the lengthy post but details of my setup may be relevant.
Setup - 2 x Rpis plus a Wiim Ultra (network streamer/preamp)
A) Rpi5 with Moode 9.3.2 on wired network with static IP. 1 x external usb drive attached. Local library is updated, and access and local output to Dac + amp are fine.
B) Rpi4 with Moode 9.3.2 on the same wired network, also with a static IP address. This unit has a docking station attached, with an old hard drive in it. This also works OK, the library is updated and local output to it's own Dac and amp is OK.
Both Rpis have Samba and DLNA enabled
.Also so on the network is a Wiim Ultra, purchased to act as a multi-input streamer and preamp, with sub management.
The Ultra can see and play all files from both Rpis across the network, using DLNA.
Because the Ultra is nowhere near as good as Moode for library control I want to use the Rpi5 as my control for network-attached music files, using the Ultra mainly as a preamp.
For various reasons the main files are on the Rpi4, and I would like to keep this arrangement, not moving the usb drive to the Rpi5, or duplicating the files in both locations.
Problem:
Neither Rpi/Moode unit can be persuaded to create a Remote NAS.
On scanning the network each will put a list of potential sources in the drop down box, and I can select the path/share that I want. (This is the same as I see from my Windows laptop, for confirmation.)
I have tried entering the local username, (and also tried "guest / blank "), and applied a name for this drive eg' Rpi4 drive'.
On pressing Save I get a wheel symbol by the menu- the same wheel I see when updating the library. This can go on for many minutes, and in 9 times out of 10 nothing positive results. if it does, however, the created Remote Nas disappears soon afterwards, even without a reboot.
It is possible that when reading the Rpi4 drive from the Rpi5 the username and password are incorrect. However the little usb drive on the Rpi5 is unlikely to require a username etc, as it has only just been setup on the Rpi5. I understand that the most it can require is 'guest/blank' for access.
Can anyone suggest what may be wrong ?
If no 'idiot!' answer is obvious I could send an error log if requested.
Thanks in advance.
This symptom suggests some sort of major breakage :-0

Couple things:
1. On the Pi5 > Remote NAS Source screen, post the full string that is in the Path field
2. Reboot and then post the contents of the startup log.
The log can be viewed via the SSH command moodeutl -l or downloaded via the Logs section in System Config, or via Menu, System info from any of the Config screens. The startup log will be at the end of System info output.
