Pi 5 Support?

I'm not sure there is a definitive answer to your question at this time because there is very little experience data available for "Pi-5 audio player".

I won't be able to make an initial assessment until our Bookworm migration effort gets to the point where we start testing moOde on a Pi-5. The target is sometime in Q1 2024 but thats not set in stone.

Just got my 5.  I live within 30 miles of an authorized dealer.  I can't wait for the Bookworm compatible version of Moode.

But my question still remains. I would expect the RPi5 to very a “capable” micro-computer, but in terms of the “single use” case of just running MoOde, what will it provide over than, say, a RPi3?

From the user perspective maybe a more responsive / fast UI.
Then I seem to recall Tim mentioned something about better integrated / easier to configure network routing

TTYTT I'd like to get one and have moOde running on it, just for the sake of having the latest kid in town... but I am OK with the Pi4 + 7'' + 1TB NVMe.
(recosidering... for what I have heard, I'd probably need a different display enclosure to accomodate the 5, so I'll wait till everything becomes available at my local store - about 10 mi away, and of course moOde to be fully ported.)

Let's not forget that this expected "easier to configure network routing" will be a benefit of moOde moving to the Bookworm release of Raspberry Pi OS and its use of the NetworkManager-mediated infrastructure. Yes, this release is necessary to boot a Pi 5 but it's also the current release for *all* Pi models.

I've already posted my belief that previous-model Pis hit the sweet spot in terms of performance per any of (power consumed | heat generated | total system cost).

I don't doubt that user interactions with the webUI and library will turn out to be (somewhat) quicker with the Pi 5 but I'm not convinced this is a critical issue for most users.

We'll find out soon enough if I'm selling the Pi 5 short Cool

I didn't realize until after I got my Pi 5 that moodeaudio wasn't supported.

Looking forward to this release as soon as you can put it out.

I specifically wanted a Pi 5 in order to reduce latency when utilizing camilladsp.
And besides, a Pi 5 costs as much as a Pi 4, so why wouldn't you want to get the latest model?

Hoping this doesn't take too long to come out since I purchased all the parts I needed for a moodeaudio box, but this last piece is unexpectingly missing.

Why so surprised?

Pi-5 and Bookworm aren't listed on our Download page or in the Raspberry Pi Imager moOde item. I assume you checked one of these locations.

There are quite a few posts in the Forum where we have stated that our goal is to port moOde to RaspiOS Bookworm sometime in Q1 2024. Keep in mind that timing is not chiseled in stone. We just switched our repos over to Bookworm development yesterday and so work should begin soon.

I'm not sure yet how much work the port is going to take but when I get a feel for how things are going I'll post status updates.

It just didn't occur to me until after I purchased my Pi 5 that the Pi 5 required a new distribution version, and that it would take time for the moOde team to get that fleshed out.

Honestly, it's rare that I don't just run Arch Linux and self install the applicable software so it's not something I've encountered before.

Looking forward to your updates! Thanks!

@Tim Curtis Hi! Did I understand right? Will it be possible use dsp as a crossover for my sound system?
