This is a status thread for upcoming moOde 7.4.0 release. Generally the focus of the 7.4.0 release is on  bug fixes and updates but may also include completion of the backup/restore settings feature and integration into the UI.

The backup/restore feature will be appreciated here. Can you say what features will be available from the gui?

Super-excited about the backup/restore (as you may recall, that was a feature I asked for).

Is the intent going forward for the backup/restore to be version-aware such that it will be able take settings from an older version and migrate them to a newer one?  To use a hypothetical example, could I backup my 7.4.0 configuration, flash an 8.1.0 version of moOde, and then restore the settings to that?  I realize that there may be additional settings in 8.1.0 for which no equivalent settings existed in 7.4.0, but would the settings that exist in both migrate over via a restore (good!) or would it refuse to restore because the versions are different (bad)?

My apologies if I failed to read everything carefully enough -- I'm dealing with a flooded basement and just doing this during a short break.

@Miss Sissy Princess yes a restore on a newer version is supported for:
  • System configuration (behind the scenes here autocfg is used)
  • Radio stations (behind the scenes stationmanager is used)
For Camilladsp configurations; if the  configuration format changes, it will be up to the CamillaDSP project it self to handle/migrate that.

In a situation where it's discovered during moOde beta testing that a new CamillaDSP version has such an issue, it would be great if you could set a "don't-step-on-CamillaDSP" flag on the release version of backup/restore.  Then you could give the user a heads-up that the settings could not be restored and that they would have to adjust the settings that on their own.

I'm not suggesting anything "fancy" to take into account people making FrankenmoOde software by updating individual pieces; I'm just talking about a simple case involving released versions of moOde (as defined by moOde version number).

I think this is going to be a great addition.  I look forward to the release.

this is 100% the usage I am after.  youtube audio playback when stream are not available with youtube music and chromecast.  Also local media playback, via android and foobar.

Where is 7.4 development and is there eta for beta/test releases?  looking forward to replacing volumio with moode in a few locations.

Looks Great. Am I correct in understanding that the sender can't locally play music (i.e. via a DAC hat) at the same time as it sends music to receivers?

As regards radio stations can you kindly consider the following. Its my local student radio and has great hires feeds ...

https://95bfm.com/

Auckland, New Zealand

Not geo ringfenced as far as I know.

FLAC  - http://streams.95bfm.com/stream112
256k mp3 - http://streams.95bfm.com:80/stream95

Thanks for your commitment to this excellent software.

Correct. The Sender can't play music locally in this initial implementation.

Post a radio logo and I'll check it out.
