Solved: MOTU M2 not detected
#1
Hi,
I have tried connecting my Motu M2 to moode via usb without success.
Now I did verify that it does work with Volumio which I don’t use anymore (but still have on an SD card).
Equally I have tried another (musical fidelity) USB DAC which is detected without problem.
I am unclear why the Motu M2 doesn’t work on my Volumio 8.3.6 installation.
Any help is appreciated.
Kind regards,
Robert

Reboot and then post the startup log

moodeutl -l or download it from the Logs section of System Config.
Enjoy the Music!

Hi Tim,
It turns out that one of my suspicions was right. The Motu drew too much power from the RPI even though it seemed to work. By adding a powered usb hub it now shows as “M2” and works as intended. On the other RPI maybe the power supply has slightly more margin.
Can be considered resolved, Moode works as intended and expected. Still my favorite solution by far. Great work.
Thanks
Robert

Nice to hear that. I also have used an audio interface for close to two years with moOde, a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2; although inferior, on various aspects, to the M2, it has served me well in regard to sound quality.
