Solved: Thumbnail generator hangs 9.0.2
#11
hi - the thumbnail scanner hangs also on my 2 Pi's with latest Moode 9 release, on the same mp3 album all the time, in my case "NAS/DS216play/16 Horsepower/Low Estate".
It never hung before. I have around 500GB of music with some years old albums in there.

Do I understand it correctly that I need to just re-save the tags on this particular album and then see where it hangs next?

But since it never hung before, sounds to me also like a bug?

regards Martin

Bugs can never be ruled out, and if we can find them they will be squashed.

Please zip up the entire album and PM a download link to myself, @TheOldPresbyope and @Nutul. One of us will analyze the files and try to reproduce your issue.
Enjoy the Music!

I won't have time to look in detail until later but a quck look showed some serious problems with the tagging of these files...and, no surprise, their source seems to have been iTunes.

Plus, apparently none of the tracks contain any imagery.

Yes, "Encoded by": iTunes 8.1.1
Also true the files contain no cover images
They have 2 (two) COMMENT tags that break the id3v2 tag rules: The COMMENT field must be unique.

I, too, won't be able to test the files today, but if I can suggest anything: edit them, and remove all the irrelevant tags (their names are):
Comment, all those beginning with WM/..., File ID: taginfo1, iTunes_CDDB_IDs

thank you all for the comments - so then, lets assume this is now solved for this particular album, and I will see where the scanner hangs next. Maybe its not a bug but rather a feature that the scanner hangs, it forces me to review the tags.
