Hey there, just started to use moOde and wow am I impressed. Decided to set up my first multiroom for my garage to better distribute the audio. Basically, using two Pi 3's for the receivers with USB speakers and a Pi 5 as the sender with a 7.8 touchscreen display. A little issue with sound synchronization at first as they were about 500-700ms out of sync but seems to be working now for some reason.

Hi and Welcome.

moOde's multiroom implementation does not support sender-receiver clock sync at this time and so the network itself needs to be able to consistently deliver packets to the receivers around 1ms of one another. If that occurs then the music will be "to-the-ear" in sync.

You can test the network throughput by running a ping test from the sender to each receiver and if the ping times are similar then sync should be good.

Configurations that can cause issues are:

- A receiver is on a 5Ghz band and another is on a 2GHz band
- Receivers are running a mix of single and multi-core Pi's. The single core Pi's may have slower network throughput.
Enjoy the Music!

Thank you for the explanation and that does make sense. I am a network engineer by trade with a couple of APs at home. Just verified that they are all currently on the same AP and band so packets would all be delivered within 1ms of each other which explains it currently sounding in sync. I will lock them to the same AP and call it a day.
