Pi 4 4GB, moode 9.1.13, Allo digione.
Anyone else had any problems playing flac 16/48 files on the latest version of moode?
Files play fine on my pi 3 under moode 8.3.6.

Reboot and then post the contents of the startup log.
The log can be viewed via the SSH command moodeutl -l or downloaded via the Logs section in System Config, or via Menu, System info from any of the Config screens. The startup log will be at the end of System info output.

Sorry, the start-up log is still showing info from when I tried the ssd card in my pi3 with the Audiophonics ES9028/9038 DAC. The ssd card is now back in my pi4 with the Allo DigiOne board.
I have had problems playing these files using various Windows media players, there's something not right about them. I have tried to resample them, but the converters could not read the files.
But the files have played with no problems on earlier versions of moode over the years.

That's odd....I have thousands of FLAC files...and don't think that any are 16/48??
Do they also go by another description??

Zip up one of the files and PM a download link to myself, @ TheOldPresbyope and @ Nutul. One of us will analyze the file and see if the issue can be reproduced.

Hi @ kit1cat. I've written a FLAC analyzer to make sure my +2600 flac album collection is in good shape wrt tags, flac headers, image size, etc. As I've a quite good understanding of the flac format, just out of interest, can you please PM me the link as well? Tx

Out of my +2600 albums/ ~28000 flac files, I've 6 in 48kHz/24bit. They're digital downloads. Rest is ripped 44.1kHz/16bit

Well, for starters, there's the flac decoder itself. It's present in every moOde install.
From the man page,
Quote: In test mode, flac acts just like in decode mode, except no output file
is written. Both decode and test modes detect errors in the stream,
but they also detect when the MD5 signature of the decoded audio does
not match the stored MD5 signature, even when the bitstream is valid.
So, from the command line, try flac wilth the test option -t for a quick check. You should get back something like
Code: rho@sunroom:~ $ flac -t /mnt/SDCARD/'Stereo Test'/LRMonoPhase4.flac
flac 1.4.2
Copyright (C) 2000-2009 Josh Coalson, 2011-2022 Xiph.Org Foundation
flac comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. This is free software, and you are
welcome to redistribute it under certain conditions. Type `flac' for details.
LRMonoPhase4.flac: ok
There's also the analyze option -a (which may need to be run as root) which is like the test option but also output an analysis file.
If your files pass this test then there's likely something really cockeyed about how the audio encoding was done (RIFF WAVE, Wave64, RF64, AIFF, FLAC or Ogg FLAC).
Regards,
Kent
