@Evil_Underlord

Regarding that "extraneous" directory, here's the first hit I got when I searched on "Synology @eaDir"

How to Delete & Prevent @eaDir Folders.

That thread was started over a decade old but it sounds like you're suffering from it too.

Since MPD automatically scans all subdirectories below the entry directory (unless told not to with .mpdignore directives) looking for music tracks, it may pick up ghost duplicate tracks if the content of these @eaDir directories includes suitable metadata.

As for the .mpdignore directive, you'll have to read the MPD manual.

Kent

Long time ago, I got the same issue. I was 100% sure, there was nothing hidden on the nas etc.
I also did several rescans, but it didn't fix it. Last resort was this:
sudo service mpd stop
sudo rm /var/lib/mpd/database
sudo service mpd start
mpc rescan

Since then, I haven't got any issue anymore. I suspect the mpd db was corrupt...

A while ago I experienced the same problem. In the following thread a usefull suggestion was posted by "TheOldPresbyope". It helped me out.

Actually the screen where you created the source: click "MoodePlayer (SynNas | smb)"
Enjoy the Music!

Thanks. This shouldn't be the issue, since it continues after deleting the eaDir directory.

Thanks. I tried the od command listed in that thread, but got
Code:
0000000   f   L   a   C  \0  \0  \0   " 020  \0 020  \0  \0  \0 016  \0

which seems to mean no tag problem. I couldn't get the metaflac or mediainfo commands later in the thread to work.

Thanks. Any advice on where/how to use this command?

I resolved the issue (for this folder) by simply deleting the entire folder, regenerating the library, copying the folder back, and again regenerating. Exactly the same files and folder.

To me, this suggests there was an error in a database somewhere that was resolved by the database deleting the entry entirely.
