What is the value of 'Digital' mixer using the alsamixer command and the effect on volume adjusting digital volume level?

alsamixer gives me:

"Card: snd_rpi_hifiberry_dac
This sound device does not have any controls."

Witch should be normal since DAC+ Zero doesn't have volume control

and

"pi@moode:~ $ mixer set Digital 50%
amixer: Unable to find simple control 'Digital',0 "

I've got the same problem with the "Hifiberry DAC/DAC+ Zero" Soundcard :-(
run a fresh 7.1 Installation ... simply add a Radiosation ... every seems/looks fine ... but I hear no sound :-(

Have you found a solution in the meantime?

The log entry below suggests a USB DAC was configured prior to switching to I2S DAC. In this case open MPD Config and SAVE, then reboot. The startup log should show mixer (none) instead of mixer (PCM).

jipp, I've changed the soundcard, to check the Amp and Cables ... works ;-)

now I saved the MDP-Settings and reboot the pi ...the log looks like:

but there is no sound :-(

I don't have that board but I do have a Mamboberry LS DAC which also has no hardware mixer and uses the same Hifberry-dac driver and no issues whatsoever.

Maybe someone else with one of the Hifiberry boards can try to repro.
